'88 Mitsubishi Starion

The Mitsubishi Starion is a sports car manufactured by Mitsubishi from 1982 to 1989. Designed by Ryu Kaibuchi, Takashi Kono, Masaki Iwamoto and Hidetoshi Aoki, the Starion was marketed during a time when Japanese car manufacturers were marketing more GT-style sports cars. The origin of the cars name is a subject of debate; Mitsubishi claims its name is a combination of "star" and "Arion" while others claim it arose from a common mispronunciation of "stallion". The car was available in two formats; a narrow and widebody version, with the narrowbody version complying with Japanese car dimension laws. The car was sold as the Mitsubishi Colt Starion in the United Kingdom and in other territories as the Conquest, under the Plymouth, Chrysler or Dodge brands. Approximately 75,000 were produced.
