Cadillac LMP
The Cadillac Northstar LMP is a sports prototype race car built for use by Cadillac in endurance racing. Designed by Bill Riley and built by Riley & Scott, the Northstar LMP was named for the engine it used and was homologated for the LMP900 class. It used a 4.0L L47 twin-turbocharged V8 mated to a 6-speed Xtrac sequential. The cars were used by Team Cadillac (operated by Riley & Scott) in the American Le Mans Series and DAMS in the FIA Sportscar Championship. The car would be upgraded for 2001, now named the Northstar LMP01 with a new bodyshell designed by Nigel Stroud; Stroud would heavily revise the car in 2002 with the LMP02, in what would be the cars final year of competition. Cadillac discontinued their Northstar LMP program at the end of 2002, instead focusing on their Corvette Racing program; Cadillac would not return to the prototype class of endurance racing until 2017. 10 chassis were built (7 LMP00/LMP01s, 3 LMP02s).
