Baja Breaker

Debut: 1978 Designer: Larry Wood and Bob Rosas 8 releases · 0 case appearances Wiki ↗

This off-road ready van was first introduced in 1978 to the Speedway Specials series painted in a simple flat matte grey and named Baja Breaker. The design was created by Larry Wood who worked together with Bob Rosas to design this realistic lifted 4x4 which was based on the then-current third generation Ford E-Series Econoline van. The original release initially featured two separate windows on the rear doors, however, during the initial production run the casting was modified for reasons unknown to feature only a single large rear window (see Gallery). The single rear window variant is more uncommonly found than the full width window. This van was one of the first vehicles to the 1978 Hot Wheels lineup to feature the large blackwall (BW) wheel type, along with the Bywayman which shares the same chassis.
